Alternate title: Are you an out of touch oppressor of the masses? Have we got a car for you!
Yet another Cadillac ad crossing the line from bold to arrogant.

I hate this commercial. It used to run every break on Hulu. I hate the Escalade a little more as a result.
Also, who has a man servant waiting for them to get home to take your luggage in? I think if I had that kind of money I would be driven in something much more expensive like a Rolls.

That just tells me that Cadillac really needs to offer a half million dollar SUV.
Btw, I saw the Rose of Versailles the other day and they had a man servant and an Escalade. So there's that.

I love these commercials personally. Arrogance is good. The kind of person who buys a top of the line Escalade is already that guy. Why not revel in who your market base is? Steal a few customers from bmw and audi.

Ugh. Hated it when I saw it, too.
Hey! Are you a modern-day oppressive ruler who makes other people carry your bags and kiss your ass? Our legal department told us we can't legally affix the body of this unnecessarily wasteful, opulent conveyance to the backs of 20 underprivileged children, but here's the next best thing! Don't forget to belittle every other human you come in contact with by treating them as lesser beings!

I think the thing I have the most trouble with is the image of being lifted up on the backs of slaves at the beginning. Its tough to shake an image that says "so what if a few slaves die, look how good I look!". There is one thing everyone else outside of their modes of transportation have in common across the ages here: We are waving and smiling at you because we are required to.

Arrogance is good?

I still wouldn't buy it. It is weird to have an Escalade and man servant. I'm sure they're nice but if I'm gonna spend that kind of money on a vehicle it won't be a dressed up Suburban.

You have a man servant?

"Man servant"? That's a horrible label for anyone.
We prefer to call him "the gimp".

GM buying peasants can't even get whale penis leather in an Escalade.
What a freakin ripoff.

to be fair, you can't get it in that anymore either.

To be fair, its not a house its the "Aula Vista Hotel" but its pretty hard to tell on first watch.

In the context of the Ad, yes it is.
Look, the Germans have had a monopoly on the douchebag market for decades now. And it's a lucrative market. I heartily applaud Cadillac catering to that market as much as possible. If they're gonna pay way too much for cars, they may as well pay too much for American cars.
If you want an arrogant SOB to buy your shit, you'd better be willing to double down on the douchiness.

But you could. Plus it is factory armored. And it is Aladeen.

Never caught that before. It's so quick.
That part doesn't bother me as much now. I still hate the commercial. I mute the TV whenever it's on.

Dang, that was my favorite part of the commercial too. Black family with a white manservant. Subversive.
